uA78HV15 Voltage Regulator
 From a SIGNETICS datasheet:

Absolute Maximum Ratings:
Input Voltage : 60 V
Internal Power Dissipation internally limited

Thermal Resistance Junction to Case:
  TO3 : 4 grdC./W
  TO220 : 2 grdC./W
  
All other ratings as for the well known 78xx - Family.

78HV15:
Test for output voltage = 14.25 ... 15.75 V:
   I out = 5mA ... 1 A , Pd = 15 W
Dropout Voltage at Iout = 1 A : typ 2 V
Peak output Current : typ 2.1 A
   For this Current the device switches off. 
   From a diagram: Short circuit current = 0.7 A
   
The 60V limit was introduced for car applications because of
the high voltage spikes killing all standard ICs. 
This IC is less suitable for a continuous high input voltage 
because of the power limit not exceeding the value of the
standard 78xx- family.

The 78MHV..- family is the high- voltage version of the well 
known 78..- family, e.g. uA7812
